A cyclist since she was six years old, Miriam raced on the road until she reached the under 23 category. She then moved exclusively to track and became one of the first Italian female sprinters and the first to represent Italy in the keirin at the Olympics. She further wrote herself into Italian cycling history by being the first Italian female sprinter to medal at the World Championships in the 500m event.
