Sprint Superpowers Set for Historic Showdown at London 3 Day Friday Night!

11/3/2026
Two of the greatest sprint cyclists in the world will collide at this year’s London 3 Day, as Harrie Lavreysen and Matthew Richardson go head-to-head for one night only at Lee Valley VeloPark.
Lavreysen, the dominant force of modern track sprinting, arrives in London with a record that borders on the unbelievable: 54 major championship gold medals, including five Olympic titles and 20 world championships. For years the Dutchman has appeared almost untouchable, ruling the sport with relentless speed and consistency.
But in 2026 a new challenger has emerged.
London 3 Day 2025 hero Matthew Richardson is officially the fastest man on the planet, becoming the first rider in history to break the nine-second barrier for the flying 200 metres. Earlier this season he stunned the sprint world by defeating Lavreysen on his way to the European title - proving that the balance of power may finally be shifting.
On Friday 13 November, London fans will witness their rivalry unfold live in a special head-to-head sprint showdown — the only time the pair will race in the UK this year.
The night will feature three explosive sprint contests:
- Flying 200m time trial
- Match sprint duel
- Standing 500m time trial
Don't miss the only chance to see this head-to-head in the UK this year!!
